So I picked up Silent Hill Downpour over the weekend.

I am currently stuck somewhere between help, help, I cannot stop and oh no, no, turn it off, I CANNOT, EFF MEEEEEE. I almost want to be done with the game already so I can play it again, but man this first-time experience is fantastic.

Sorry for the rather incoherent ramble. I have a lot of feels and it's hard to get them into words, especially given how quickly this game takes me from "oh, that's cool!" to "OH NO NOT OKAY FRAK, NO, FFHISDHF;SDI"

OTOH, hey, I got stuff done today! Ish. Nothing incredibly important, just incredibly victorious and now I think I am going to drag my aching head to bed. Perhaps I will be even MORE productive tomorrow!

I have kind of a strange request.

What kinds of fun, healthy (or unhealthy) foods did you all eat as kids? I'm talking stuff like s'mores, ants on a log - stuff like that. "Interactive" foodstuffs?

I'm trying to brainstorm some of these things for a project at work (lol the things I get to do with my degree) and I didn't eat too many of those kinds of fun foods as a kid, so I'm having worlds of issues thinking of them and Google only takes me so far.

ETA: In my Google-searchings for stuff, I found this.

"This" is a giant slushie made from ice pops. You know. The ones that come in those little plastic tubes that cut your mouth but that you loved as a kid?

Google is NOT a source for stock images.

I REPEAT

GOOGLE IS NOT A SOURCE FOR STOCK IMAGES.

Ganking a photo from Google Image Search to use in your art piece is STEALING. IDGAF what you're using it for, using images you get off Google Image Search is not "finding resources" it's STEALING.*

There are dozens of free stock image websites out there. Seriously - I've used most of them at least once and swear by several. Hell, even places you normally have to pay will offer freebies periodically, or really cheap subscriptions or fees, or something.

IN SHORT: DO NOT USE GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH AS A STOCK PHOTO RESOURCE. GOOGLE IS NOT A STOCK PHOTO SITE.

* There are a few exceptions to this (notably those images that are licensed under a creative commons), but since you sometimes have to do a little digging to find out which you can legally use and in what manner the easiest and simplest rule of thumb to follow is that TAKING AN IMAGE FROM GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH IS STEALING.

Not Exactly
Movie!verse, pre-Iron Man. Some hints of Tony/Pepper despite this.
It's Pepper's birthday and Tony's feeling...a little left out of the festivities. Thankfully, he has a plan. It just...doesn't pan out the way he expected.

Originally intended as a much belated birthday gift for pintsizeninja, but I'm either several years late or a few months early depending on how you want to look at it. Still written with her in mind. &hearts

So last night, after something like a three-week rewriting binge, I finally finished revising the first four chapters of a story I've had stuck in WIP mode for over two years. \o\ \o/ /o/

The outline has also been updated and finished, and I have set a deadline for myself.

This is an incredible victory for me. Even more so because the momentum hasn't up and died and I am itching to keep going.

I've also been looking into writings apps for my phone, since it's one of the few tools I can guarantee to have somewhere near my person all of the time. I've nabbed two notepad apps, a thesaurus/dictionary app, and a REALLY EFFIN' FANTASTIC brainstorming app. I'm hoping to find a decent outlining app in the future (though in a pinch either of my notetaking apps work, too), and then I think I'll be about set.

After a delightful conversation with take_the_good, I have concluded that my issues with fixing this chapter of Down the Line are rooted in the fact that I am writing:

1) an awkward conversation that
2) takes place between two characters who have had no contact for the past ten years
3) barely knew each other to begin with (but might have had UST) and
4) the whole conversation is sparked by the fact that they have a 3-hour drive to make. Together.

And topping it all off:

5) And waiting for them at the end of the road is a doomsday virus capable of wiping out all life on earth as we know it.

...It's a miracle I even remotely pulled this off the first time around.

Well.

I bailed on my original plan and went out and picked up my 3DS today, along with Resident Evil: Mercenaries and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. (Target, which is where I wanted to buy everything 'cause I get 5% off, didn't have Revelations. NEXT TIME, BABY.)

For now it's charging, and I likely won't get to play until later tomorrow evening because of work and commuting and all. :/ I should've just gone out and gotten it yesterday, but noooo I had to watch the pilot of the River instead.*

But then I only work a half-day Friday and I have all weekend to play (aside from possible plans? Idk what the status on those plans are though, so I'm banking for ALL 3DS ALL THE TIME right now) so there is that.

Not a whole lot going on otherwise - it's honestly a miracle I've managed to dredge up anything to post about over the past three days. If you ever need proof I'm still around online, though, just pop on over to my tumblr. I tend to update it a few times a day (at least with reblogs).


*Terrible show, that. Absolutely terrible. I am currently side-eying the few people I've found who claimed to have liked it, because I haven't seen a horror story that poorly paced in a very, very long time.

So the forecast this week has been very, very mild. I think we hit close to 70 (degrees farenheit) on Monday, which is really unseasonably warm.

 

This weekend? Thunderstorms. Followed by 6-12 inches of snow.

 

.....I hate this state.
