Finally got this up and running. Will hopefully be updated as I finish it/come up with more to add to it.

Project Master List: Fic, OrigiFic, Art )

If there's anything you'd like to see me attempt that isn't already on this list (or that you don't think is already on this list), you can fill out a request either on this post or over here. It says it's for a writing meme, but go ahead and make art requests there too, for now.

Also - doing a sketch-a-day challenge between September 1, 2009 and October 31, 2009. I'm offering two request weeks, so if you'd like to make a request feel free to mosey on over here and make one in the comments. Even if I don't get through all of them during the two request weeks, depending on how productive I remain for the rest of the year I'm going to try and get through them all.

the Hulk vs. Wolverine

I WISH I COULD SAY I WENT LOOKING FOR THIS STUFF, BUT I DON'T. It just seems to find me. XDXD

Next post will be about something other than comics!fandom, I promise. I have stuff to say about The Last Airbender trailer, as well as comments on the television I've been watching lately.

So! Been a few days since my last post, and a couple of things have happened/gotten done since then:

The Things Erin Did This Weekend )

Working on one of the books for my book arts class right now, so no memes. But! I do have a couple of links worth sharing:

ALSO: Updates on Captain America Casting

OMG OMG CAPTAIN AWESOME AS CAPTAIN AMERICA. OH PLEASE WORLD MAKE THIS HAPPEN, I WOULD DIE OF GIGGLY DELIGHT.

Endeavor Blasts Into the Night

TBH, I am reaaally pissed off that Obama decided to cut NASA's budget and scrap their plans for a new line of shuttles, because we need to keep the space program alive and all of the current shuttles are well past their prime and deserve their retirement. >(

The Original Storyline for Jean Grey's Return

...This makes the writer in me so happy. And is awesome to boot. <3

So about that NaNo rewrite I was whining about, yes?

I finally get a version running I'm actually enjoying working on. It makes sense, it flows, it lets me give the readers an immersive view of the new world order without leaving them too far in the dark...

...and now I can't open it.

I-I don't have words.

So [info]scdsam hit me up with this one and a redux of the last meme I did. So yeah.

Here we go again~ )

Whew! That only took me ages to do. Time for bed! Thankfully I get to sleep in tomorrow. Yayyyy 2:30 PM class~

Don't mind me, I'm just trying to keep track of what is going on in my school email account at the moment and finding a website redesign that is horrendous and an embarrassment to my design student self.

After all, website are SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION.

Cut for language and ranting )

Hrrrrrrrrrgh this is not what I wanted from them at all. I hated the last redesign and right now I hate this one even more (which I honestly didn't think was possibly THANKS UNIVERSE FOR PROVING ME WRONG AGAIN).

So every now and again I like to pretend I was hired by someone to do some kind of logo/poster/advertisement for them, just to get some practice in since I don't think I can ever practice enough.

This time I decided to do a poster for Lovevolution, an annual techno/trance event in San Francisco (the website - which has sound, just in case you click - has more history on the source of the event, which ties into the fall of the Berlin Wall).

Mind, this is so totally not a sponsored poster. I just decided I wanted to try designing something for a real event, instead of the fakes I usually use. I still ended up taking a lot of liberties, though - I used the dates of last year's even (kind of, sort of), made up the rest of the information, and used a combination of real artists and fake ones for the list of musical talents.

Lov3volution Poster Under the Cut )

One of these days I'm thinking I might re-brand a couple of fandom-y corporations for the heck of it. I've been eyein' Stark Industries for it, but I might do something about the BSAA or Black Mesa or possibly Wayne Enterprises or something, IDK. XD;; I just think it might be fun and entertaining and good practice.

Also, my hand hurts from throwing this morning. D: But! I did kind of, sort of figure out what I'm doing. I almost managed to make two bowls, though the top edges split and then I ended up ruining them. I'm going to have to talk to my professor about why, but at least throwing doesn't scare me the way it did yesterday! I also managed to slice myself open three times in the space of five minutes, one deep enough to bleed! Go, Erin, go!

A very out of season reference, but I don't care. I loved the Great Pumpkin. <3

Meme Time )

Aaaaaand because I am glad to have a touch of better movie news after the fandom!fail that made up my last post:

Apparently, Ryan Reynolds Talks to the Deadpool Writers Daily

ilu, Mr. Reynolds, but I'm pretty sure I'd be sick of you, too. XD Here's to hoping that this movie actually turns out all right, though. *crosses fingers*

Also, here's a refresher for my Valentine's Card Post in case anyone missed it and wants to get a fandom-oriented valentine's card (we're talking the things you used to hand out in elementary school). Comments are screened and I'm seriously considering throwing crazy doodles into the mix, so if you want something fun and crazy in your mailbox leave me a comment with an address there.

And I get to get up early tomorrow and head over to the art building to practice throwing on the wheel. I am so terrified right now. D:

So this is really not the first post I wanted to make after making a bunch of new friends. D: I promise the next one won't be so fandom!ragey, but I had to get this out.

Shawn Roberts Talks Wesker in Resident Evil: Afterlife"

No.

Seriously, GTFO of my fandom, Anderson, and take your spotlight-stealing Sue with you. Please to be a box-office failure, Afterlife, so RE fans might get a decent reboot of the movie!verse -- one that, oh, I don't know, actually features more than, what, four? (Oh god is it really only four?!) characters from the game series? (And doesn't, like, completely screw up the characterization of some of them. I love you, Ali Larter, but Claire Redfield is NOT a thirty-something year old BLONDE.)

On a better note: I kind of want to marry the designers of Adobe After Effects. This program is fantastic and I love it.

Busy weekend!

In which Erin talks about seeing movies, going shopping, and pretty cars )

In other news, I've been having a really hard time motivating myself to do anything so far this year (really all I want to do is watch movies/tv, seriously). It's especially bad when it comes to school - I just don't want to do anything for it. It's like I don't care, but I do care, just...not enough to do anything at the moment? IDK.
I don't know if my winter vacation just wasn't enough of a break for me (which wouldn't surprise me, given how insanely tense I was all break) or if it's just a kind of, sort of case of senioritis.

Either way, it's bad, and I am hoping I at least hit some kind of rhythm with school within the next few weeks. I'd like to NOT fail my second-to-last semester, kthx.

So tired. I'm going to sleep here in a few minutes.

But I wanted to say:

Owl City? Pretty dang cool live. It's just a pity the bass was turned up to eleven and I could barely hear the lyrics as a result. :\ He'd be halfway through the song before I finally caught enough of the lyrics that I could sing along. (In my defense, I've only had the CD since Christmas; barely enough time for me to commit it all to memory. Besides, the opening bits of each song sounded a bit different live, and I needed the lyrics sometimes to joggle my memory.)

Also? I kind of loved the opening act. Just a little bit. I mean. They had us all sing along to Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" and changed up the lyrics just a touch so it fit with a group of guys singing it. IT WAS HILARIOUS AND AWESOME AND AMAZING. Aaaand they're outta Nashville, just like Autovaughn, which may have helped them out a lot in my mind. <3

And now to bed, because I need to get up and get back to school here tomorrow morning. With luck the roads will only be a little bit icy getting out. D:

HOKAY GUYS:

I'll be doing a better update-y post here in a few minutes, but I picked up a bunch of fun and entertaining and hilarious valentines while I was at the store on Friday. They are fantastic and lulzy and make me giggle and feel like a five year old.

Sadly, I have no use for all of them (especially since there's, like 30 per back. I do not need 90+ valentine's cards drifting around my room, no matter how lulzy).

SO. If you want a hilarious, fandom-y valentine from me, go ahead and leave me your address on this post. I'll be screening the comments, so it won't be made public to anyone else.

Okay, gang, I need your help.

I am going to be making my first ever hand made book on Thursday (!!) and one of the requirements is that I bring in some kind of image to include as content in the book, so not all of the pages are totally blank. There were no real requirements RE: the image content, only that it be "Inspiration."

Now, I dunno about you, but I'm inspired by just about everything, so that made choosing very hard.

Which is why I need you guys.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to pick any one of the images below. The image with the most votes will be the one I submit to class, to forever be bound in someone's sketchbook.

...Don't ask where I found some of these. I honestly do not know how I came into them. It comes from random internet clicking, I suppose. XD;;;

Personally, too, I'm leaning towards the "Do not eat this book, wear this book, taunt this book, etc.", Dali!Wolverine (of course), and the barcode one.

...Though Santa dunking a present is adorable too. <3

After years of watching Disney produce only mediocre 2D films, I was a little wary when they announced the coming of The Princess and the Frog. In a number of ways, I felt that Disney had left all of its good storytelling behind, and that Pixar, despite being owned by Disney, was where all of the good stories had gone (because, really, even the worst Pixar film is better than Disney’s later 2D films). In fact, while I was incredibly sad that Disney was closing down its 2D studios after the poor theatrical run for Home on the Range, I was also a little relieved. At least the Pixar movies were good, even if I don’t think 3D animation is really that much better than 2D (and my opinions on both will be left to another discussion).

However, as I heard more and more about what Disney had in mind for The Princess and the Frog, I realized that very little was going to stop me from going to see this film. I had an inkling that this movie was going to do very well by old school Disney, and that there was a good chance this movie was going to soar right up and take a place in amongst some of Disney’s finest films.

I like to think I was right.

Review: Princess and the Frog. Pretty light on spoilers, I think, but you have been warned. )

Overall, though, I loved this movie. I would go again in a heartbeat. I will be buying this on DVD. I will probably watch it quite a bit. I am probably going to buy the soundtrack as well. <3

And you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy this movie. So if you want something a little bit more fun and happy and classic, go see this one. It’s worth it.

So! It's been a few days since my last post (work has been keeping me pretty busy, and I like to pretend I have a bit of a social life when I'm not working/sleeping/fighting off more headaches) and I have a lot I've been meaning to put up.

First, though, we're gonna do a quick recap of my life. Because it has been oh so exciting.

Recap tiems! )

And now for my new year's resolutions! I know you're all on the edge of your seats waiting for these.

I resolve to... )

Got work here in a little bit, which I am not driving to (my Dad was kind enough to offer to drive me. Which is a good thing, because I was not looking forward to going anywhere in these conditions). Then I have tomorrow off, two days of work, then I get to go back to school -- where I get to keep wrangling with my schedule for a little while longer. Oh joy of joys.

So.

About my thoughts on James Cameron’s Avatar.

I have actually seen this movie twice so far – once in 3D, and the other in 2D. Neither showing was digitally projected, nor in IMAX. This may change (especially as I have been invited to a digital showing sometime this week), but I doubt my thoughts will.

Since I typically hash on the plot and the characters as well as the special effects, I think I’ll do that again. And, like my Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen review, I think I’ll go over things in parts, instead of trying to write a long, coherent review.

I think, too, I’ll be a little different this time and start with the plot.

here there be spoilers and all that. You have been warned. )

Okay: for all the flailings and the frustration I have with this film, it’s not like it was a terrible movie. It was good, and I did enjoy it enough to see it twice without hesitation. But…I am hesitatant to call it Cameron’s finest. Hell, I hesitate to call it the finest anything. Visually, hell yes it was, but not overall.

And, thankfully, most of my issues were not things I alone noticed. Cinematical comments on Avatar's story, as well, and so does Entertainment Weekly (in an article that I actually agree with for once, holy hell.)

Also, teee: Will "I see you" become the next "You complete me" There is a comment in there about "You complete me" being something people mock not say in all seriousness...and that it's highly doubtful that "I see you" will catch on in the same way. It's kinda fabulous, but hilarious too.

Merry Christmas everyone!

To those who do not celebrate it, happy December 25th!

We're getting hammered weather-wise out here. We got about eight inches of snow since yesterday (on top of a small layer of ice!) and it's not supposed to stop until sometime tomorrow. One of the back wheels on my Yaris is frozen and won't turn - I'm a little worried about getting into work tomorrow, but I think I'll manage it somehow. D: (Otherwise, I'll be calling in and telling them I can't get out of my driveway. Which won't be a lie.)

GOOD NEWS THOUGH: I got tons of pictures. Tons of them. I had to - the snow drifts almost have to be seen to be believed. (One of them is almost as tall as our six-foot fence.) I also got snapshots of my ornaments (!!), the tree, and a few of my doggie. <3 I should be getting them up within the next two posts or so (along with the Avatar review I promised.

Also made a killing in gifts this year. XDXD;; I don't even know how. (Though it probably had something to do with my habit of buying things and throwing them at my mother and saying, "give this to me for Christmas; I don't need it right now.")

THE LOOT LIST )

Also, meme time:

Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favourite shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. Ask as for as many as you want. That way you get to know a little bit about my life, if you're remotely interested in it.

You may want to specify whether you want photos of my apartment or my house, as the two places are quite different. <3

...we also had a small fire in our oven today. Hahahahaha oh dear. And my dad is currently wandering around in his underwear because his clothes are wet from the snow.

This, my friends, is how we celebrate Christmas.
